Put a basketball-loving rapper with DJ Diesel and you get ‘Chaos’. That’s literally the title of Shaquille O’Neal’s latest music offering in collaboration with GAWNE. The YouTube-famous rapper teased the collaboration earlier this week. On December 8, the track and the music video dropped. As advertised, the OG athlete-rapper has made something phenomenal.

GAWNE stated that Shaq wrote his own verse. Fresh from singing his own praises on the remix of “Shaq & Kobe” with Meek Mill and Rick Ross, this one is just as piercing.

Luke Gawne, who’s better known by his last name, will always remember December 8, 2023. This day, his collaboration with Shaquille O’Neal dropped with the music video to go along with it. To make the release of ‘Chaos’ sweeter, O’Neal gave him a very special gift.

But first, how did this duo do? They announced the song’s release on social media with matching captions. “SHAQ & GAWNE DROP HARDEST SONG OF THE YEAR “CHAOS”‼️ Y’all rockin with it⁉️” When breaking the news, GAWNE said Shaq sent him the “hardest verse of 2023.”

By most consensus, ‘Chaos‘ is going hard lyrically. He gives the privilege of opening it to his colleague who utilized the first 2:25 minutes to flaunt he has peaked in life because he’s “Rapping with Shaquille O’Neal.” When Shaq does come in, rocking a massive Diesel crown necklace, he jumps to facts. “They think I’m the GOAT, I tell them you’re right.

He seemingly goes into his youth full of financial struggles and seeing his parents’ hardship when he raps, “I wasn’t able to sit at the table.” And yes, fortunes changed when he went to the NBA, “Now they wanna eat with me.” It could also be a nod to his growing restaurateur status.

Almost feeding off the pressure and energy from fans as he did in the prime of his career, he namedrops two of his teams, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic wittily. “Heat like the Magic they go open sesame.” He once again mentioned, “Miami, LA, Parade in the street,” referring to the four victory parades he got in these cities.

Shaq’s authenticity pours out when he’s unapologetically boasting about his party lifestyle, celebrity connections, and luxuries. A special shoutout went to Reebok by their prez. “I ain’t only stepping, I’m Reebok’n it,” ought to be in their next ad. The best line has to be, “That my time is money, I’m approximate,” after he referred to his stock-for-endorsement brand deals. It sounds a lot like he’s referencing those people seeking his investment but treating him like an ignorant athlete.

Shaq lavishes praise on GAWNE

Like Shaq, GAWNE drew from a painful history when he suffered a brain injury. The Chicago native who had a healthy diet of the Michael Jordan era that led him to release a song on His Airness called working with O’Neal a dream come true.

The dream got better when Shaq gifted him a customized Rolls Royce worth $1 million. If they’re going to spit lines like, “DIESEL and GAWNE, yeah we ballin’ – so call us GOATs,” they got to fit the part. What is your favorite line from this DIESEL hit?

One take at a time

I was 7 when I saw 'Space Jam' but didn't know till the third rewatch the lead actor is actually a living basketball legend. It was while studying journalism that my friend would go on about the Warriors from Golden State. Keen on athletes' personas outside their arenas, it was Stephen Curry's confidence and philanthropy that drew me to follow the news on NBA pros and explore sports media.
