One of the hottest free talents in the pro wrestling industry is Will Ospreay. The NJPW star has had many top-tier matches at the promotion and has been on the rise. Speculation had reached its peak about his future as his contract expired in 2024. The primary rumor suggested that he was bound for WWE. However, he has shocked many fans with his move to All Elite Wrestling.

Will Ospreay is now All-Elite

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Tony Khan broke the news that Will Ospreay has now joined the Jacksonville-based promotion. The 30-year-old star is part of the roster and will continue to perform at AEW. Ospreay said that he is going to fulfill his contract with NJPW first before making the transition to AEW. Moreover, he revealed that he had complete support of the Japan-based promotion in regard to the signing.

A few days ago, Tony Khan announced that talks with a “respected talent” have been fruitful. He later added to the tweet that the signing would happen at the upcoming pay-per-view event AEW Full Gear, which happened on 11/18. This had sparked many speculations. While many were considering some of the recently released WWE stars might make their way to AEW, MJF had his own speculations. However, even his speculations came out false.

Speaking of MJF, the stage might be set for Will Ospreay, as there is someone at AEW who despises him to the core.

Will Ospreay’s AEW rival

During the signing, Will Ospreay told Tony Khan that he wants things to be clear for the 2024 AEW All-In. On the other hand, MJF has particularly shown that he is not quite keen on working alongside him. In an interview, MJF said, “Will’s (Ospreay) great, but he’s not the complete package.” This goes to show that he does not consider The Aerial Assassin as a worthy opponent. In the same interview, he added, “Luckily for Will, he hasn’t had to step in the ring with me. If he never does, he will continue to be lucky.”  This might take shape into a new rivalry as MJF took shots at the 30-year-old star even before he was signed by AEW.

He then further added, “As far as Will Ospreay goes, that guy is, as his people would say, a bellend. I would like him to stay very far away from me.” These remarks by the AEW Champion might be enough to spark a violent rivalry between the two once Ospreay fulfills his duties at NJPW. Currently, MJF is enjoying his baby-face era at the promotion. Do you think with Osprey’s debut, MJF might turn into a heel again?
