Departures from WWE have been pretty frequent nowadays. With the $21.4 billion merger on the table, a number of layoffs in the company are expected. However, even before that, a shocking update emerged as Mustafa Ali announced his exit from WWE.
Days after Vince McMahon‘s ultimate return as the Executive Chairman for TKO, the multi-billion dollar sports entertainment company, Ali announced his leave from the Stamford-based company. The way of exit was unlike any other formal departure.

Mustafa Ali had been on the main roster for quite a while. However, after losing to Gunther on the Night of Champions this year, Adeel Alam was more prominently seen on NXT instead. He was also slated to compete against The Judgment Day member Dominik Mysterio at NXT No Mercy for the North American championship on September 30. But his sudden departure means a likely change of plans for WWE.
Without wasting much time, Ali quickly took to Instagram to update his fans regarding his current status in the company. His social media post included no caption but a screenshot from what appears to be the ‘notes’ app on his mobile phone. The message reads, “I’m no longer working with WWE. I look forward to the future. Thank You.”
According to Sean Ross Sapp, Ali’s exit might not be due to the expected budget cuts. He said, “I’m told by WWE that Mustafa Ali saying he’s no longer working with WWE is not due to any broader talent cuts.” However, the story is developing and we will have more updates around it once the reason behind Ali’s departure is confirmed.
