It was Jabeur who drew first blood by breaking Coco’s very first service game. Leading 1-0, Jabeur played an amazing shot which gave her the advantage over Coco.

However, Coco is not one to stay behind and she played a spectacular rally followed by a decisive point that saw her go over Jabeur.

Coco showed some grit to come back from 0-2 games down to restore parity in the set and match. The American reminded everyone exactly why she is so highly rated in the world of tennis.

Leading 2-0 in the opening minutes of the match, Ons Jabeur thought she had the set in her pocket. However, Coco came back emphatically to take the set 6-4.

The second set continues in a similar fashion

The second set saw Coco continue where she had left off. An early break and a lethal service game saw the World Number 51 snatch the early games from Jabeur.

Serving first, Coco was determined to get ahead, and she clinched the penultimate point of the first game in a fashionable manner.

Jabeur came back strong to put up a fight for her first service game in the second set. Jabeur was not here to face defeat easily. She was not a match against Coco, although she showed some glimpses of her brilliance.

Although she was ultimately no match for Coco, Jabeur was not going to lose quite so easily. She managed to show some grit herself.

Trailing 3 games to 2, Jabeur hit a spectacular drop-shot that Coco could not reach. However, the Turk’s resurgence did not last long as she lost the set 3-6.

Her one-sided domination over Jabeur saw Coco Gauff advance to the round of 32. She will look to continue her good form in the next round, where she will face the winner between Garbine Muguruza and Sloane Stephens.
