The welterweight division has some very intriguing moving pieces in it. Colby Covington takes on the champion, Kamaru Usman in a much-anticipated fight. We have the BMF Jorge Masvidal waiting for his next opponent. Former champion, Tyron Woodley is looking to get his title back. Well, the addition of Conor McGregor to the division has made things even more exciting.

Former two-division champion, Conor McGregor takes on Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246. This fight will be the first fight of the Notorious One ever since he lost to lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Now, this move by McGregor is a bit confusing for a few reasons. McGregor has been campaigning for a rematch against Khabib ever since their first encounter. Then how does McGregor fighting Cerrone at welterweight take him closer to the title shot? Is he even looking for a title shot at the lightweight division? or is he coming for Jorge Masvidal’s BMF title? Fans have been speculating a lot of scenarios surrounding the welterweight move of Conor McGregor. However, the former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington does not seem worried about the arrival of Conor McGregor in the welterweight division.
