Colby Covington Finally Breaks Silence After Loss to Kamaru Usman: “The Champ Will be Back in No Time”

Colby Covington fought for the undisputed welterweight title against one of the baddest welterweights in UFC history, Kamaru Usman. Though Covington fell short in his first attempt to capture the UFC gold he took Usman to deep water and came very close to winning the contest. On one judge’s scorecard, Covington was winning the fight while another judge scored the fight a draw going into the final round.

Considering what Usman had been able to do all of his past opponents, especially his domination against former champion, Tyron Woodley, Colby has done enough to prove his mettle. Colby Covington belongs amongst the very best of the division and he is here to stay. In a recent post, Covington stated he would be back very soon. 

“The only thing I broke at UFC 245 was my foot off in Marty’s ass! The Champ will be back in no time!” stated the former interim welterweight champion.

There are some intriguing fights for Colby Covington at the top fo the division. It was believed that a fight between Tyron Woodley and Colby was in the works. However, the fight between Tyron Woodley and Leon Edwards has been made official for the UFC London card in March. It’s also rumored that Jorge Masvidal vs Kamaru Usman is being aimed for July 2020. Considering that the winner of Woodley vs Edwards will be an intriguing matchup for Colby. A lot would depend on the timeline for Colby’s octagon return.
