The Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War title is gaining a lot of attention ahead of its launch on November 13. Thanks to Activision’s extensive release for the trailer and the ongoing Zombies reveal, the game is already popular amongst the fans. Along with the return of Mason, Woods, and Hudson, the title also brings back the weapons from BO1. While the 2020 title makes a huge leap in terms of graphics, some elements are strikingly similar and yet unique.

Popular Call of Duty YouTuber ‘The Gaming Revolution’ made a video comparing the weapons animations, sounds, and graphics in Black Ops 1 and Black Ops Cold War. A lot of the weapons make a comeback to the 2020 title, as the game is based in 1981, which was the height of the Cold War.

Although, the video showcases a noticeable difference in the weapon sounds and animations. Take a look at it below.

Changes in weapon sounds in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War

One of the major changes that the video highlights is the difference in the sounds of the weapons in both the titles. While the BO1 sounds feel a little heavy on the ears, the weapon sounds in BO Cold War seem to be a little muffled. This is a noticeable difference across almost all the weapons showcased in the video. Of course, the developers try to keep the sounds as real as possible but the rationale behind muffling firing sounds is still unclear.

Is Call of Duty Cold War Already Better than Modern Warfare?

Differences in gun animations

As far as the gun animations are concerned, there are some striking similarities in the animations for guns like the AK-47 and the M4. Both these weapons even look similar in both the titles, just that the BO Cold War version looks visually enhanced.

One other noticeable difference is the change of hands while reloading certain guns. For example, while using the shotgun in BO1, the player’s right hand reloads the weapon, whereas in BO Cold War the left hand does that. These may seem like minor differences but show the difference between the two games perfectly.

Moreover, the reload times also differ amongst different weapons. For instance, the sniper rifle in BO Cold War reloads much faster than in BO1. This may also be because the developers have buffed the sniper rifles for Cold War’s Multiplayer Alpha.

Yet another major difference is in the recoil patterns of the weapons. Black Ops Cold War guns’ recoil seems extremely realistic compared to BO1. This will be a noticeable difference in both casual and competitive settings.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War brings something new to the table while keeping its original mechanics more or less intact. It’ll be interesting to see how the developers change the campaign experience of the game and how these little changes affect the gameplay after the full game launch.
