

Shaun White retired from his snowboarding career after his final run on Friday, February 11. He just missed the podium finish, finishing 4th. It was his very last run and after completing it, Shaun broke down in tears. He saw his dream to secure a fourth medal slip away from him, and he also knew that this was his last Olympics run.
Retirement can be harsh on athletes because their lives revolve around the sport. After Shaun’s retirement on Friday, several athletes paid tribute to him, commenting on the phenomenal career that Shaun had.

Tom Brady pays tribute to Shaun White
Retirement is something that no athlete looks forward to, yet they know they must face it one day. After years of investing everything in a particular sport, suddenly moving away from it can be really hard.
And the fact that White had to walk away without a medal will be harder on him. He will have to put it behind him and move forward, which won’t be easy at all. Along with fans and family, several big names in the sporting world also paid tribute to Shaun after his retirement.

American quarterback Tom Brady took to Instagram to congratulate White on the amazing career he had. He shared White’s Instagram post and wrote, “Congrats @shaunwhite the incredible career”.
Brady, who is the most famous American quarterback also retired in 2022. Brady has revealed that he is “happy” with his decision to retire. He is looking forward to all the other things that will come in his life other than playing football.

Michael Phelps lauds White as the GOAT
Meanwhile, Olympic GOAT Michael Phelps also posted something similar for White. “Congrats on the amazing career,” wrote Phelps, using the GOAT emoticon.
Again, swimmer Michael Phelps retired back in 2016 itself after a record 28 Olympic medals. Both Phelps and Brady have found the time to do things they always wanted to after their retirement.

Perhaps this will give strength to Shaun White as he steps away from something he has been doing all his life. The athlete will now get back to his family and girlfriend and spend some quality time with them before he decides what to do next.
