Conor McGregor Celebrates His Retirement with Fans

Conor McGregor parted ways with the UFC after the event on Saturday night. In a surprise announcement, he tweeted that he will no longer fight.

While the world of fight fans comes to terms with the announcement, McGregor has already taken to celebrate his retirement. Across all his social media platforms, he shared the photo of a cake that read, “Happy retirement daddy.”

It seems like “The Notorious” is enjoying his retirement at home with family. While this is the moment that every fighter longs for after a life of fighting inside the cage, Conor’s move comes as a completely unexpected one.

This is because the Irishman himself announced many-a-time that he is looking forward to an active season.

He made his comeback to the Octagon in January and was looking forward to some really good fights. Speculations regarding fights with Nate Diaz, Kamaru Usman, Jorge Masvidal, and subsequent fixtures with Justin Gaethje and Khabib Nurmagomedov were all doing the rounds.

Apparently, Conor McGregor is tired of waiting around for fights to show up. Even though there are a plethora of rumors going about regarding his fights, there is no confirmation regarding any of them.

Thus, it appears as if the former two-division champion is tired of waiting. Moreover, even the weight division that he will fight in keeps shifting. Speaking to Ariel Helwani from ESPN, he said,

“I had my goals, my plans, the season. I had everything laid out. Obviously the world has gone bleeding bonkers at the minute. There’s f***all happening at the minute. They want to throw me up and down weights and offer me stupid fights. I don’t really give a f***. I’m over it. I’m just not excited about the game, Ariel. I don’t know if it’s no crowd. I don’t know what it is. There’s just no buzz for me.”
