Conor McGregor is back. The Notorious one has been inactive since his last fight against Khabib Numragomedov back in October 2019. As per McGregor, he agreed to fight Justin Gaethje last summer, but it fell apart since Conor broke his left arm while training.
Fans have been eagerly waiting to see the king of Ireland bounce back from his loss against Khabib Nuramgomedov and reclaim his throne. Well, it seems Christmas will be early this year for the fight fans. McGregor just tweeted a date and the venue for his next fight. Nothing has been official yet, but if you know Conor McGregor then you have to believe that he calls his shot.
“Dublin, December 14th” – Tweeted McGregor just a while ago.
Seems McGregor wants his Irish fans blowing the roof of the arena in support of him while he faces his opponent inside the UFC octagon. There are many fighters Conor has called out in the recent past such as Tony Ferguson, Frankie Edgar, Justin Gaethje, and even Jose Aldo. However, Justin Gaethje seems the perfect opponent for the double champ to make a comeback.
Dublin, December 14th.

Gaethje has been wrecking the lightweights for his last three fights. He knocked out James Vick, Edson Barboza and Cowboy Cerrone in first rounds to earn himself a title shot shortly. However, Tony Ferguson is the one who is likely to challenge the Russian next. And that leaves Gaethje without any opponent for a meaningful period. On the other hand, McGregor has no opponent either. He can’t fight Khabib Nurmagomedov or Tony Ferguson next.
Hence it makes perfect sense for Conor to fight Gaethje next and the winner of that fight faces the winner of Nurmagomedov and Ferguson.
Conor McGregor made his mixed martial arts debut at the age of 18 in Dublin against Kieran Campbell. He even fought Brando back in 2014 on a UFC PPV in Dublin. It seems McGregor wants to go back to his hometown to have possibly one of the biggest fights of his career. If Conor McGregor wins then he can challenge for the lightweight title again. however, if he loses it will leave him in a rather tricky situation and the path to the title will be a bit longer for him.
