Steve Smith taken by surprise with teenager’s bouncer

The cricket players of King Edward VII school spent a delightful afternoon with the Australian team. Players such as Quinton de Kock and Graeme Smith are alumni of the school. The Australian batsmen tackled the deliveries of the school’s bowler. However, the highlight of the session is the bouncer delivery to Steve Smith by the 16 year old. Smith’s attempt to tackle the delivery failed as the bouncer hit the delivery net passing the edge of the bat.

The video of the incident started making rounds on social media following the teenager’s sister releasing it. The caption of the video said, “My “little” brother bowling to @stevesmith49”. Twitter users since then have been in admiration of the young lad beating the Australian star.

The video is gathering views at a high rate where everyone is praising the young talent. Some of the viewers are leaving great comments encouraging the teenager to try for the Australian team already.

Smith’s return to the field

This is the first time the Australian cricket team is touring South Africa after the ball-tampering scandal of 2018. That particular incident resulted in Smith, Warner, and Bancroft receiving suspension notices. However, even since then the players are back on field and are showing brilliant performances.

Smith admits that the last time he toured South Africa it did not end well. However, he added that now that he is back, he is starting to enjoy the series.

“It’s nice to be back playing in South Africa. The last time I was here things didn’t end overly well, but I’ve also got really fond memories of playing here.”

South Africa and Australia will be playing the T20 series which commenced on the 21st of February. Australia’s schedule includes three ODIs and T20s.
