CS: GO Scammer to Serve 8 Years in Prison for Stealing Knife

Back in December 2018, Valve transitioned CS: GO to a free to play model. The game was already a tremendous hit and has gained millions of new players ever since. However, to balance things out, the developers have also introduced several in-game collectibles that cost a fortune.
These include skins for assault rifles, knives, SMGs, and AWP, among other weapons. With time, the rarity and price of these items increase, making them highly profitable. Hence, players around the world try to avail them by hook or by crook.
As per recent reports, a CS: GO scammer in the Czech Republic will have to serve 8 years in prison because he failed to pay $1400 for a rare knife skin. Interestingly, he had already received the item and had paid $190 for it.

Pilsen police spokeswoman Veronika Hokrova claimed, “He received around $190 deposit and the rest was supposed to be paid during a meetup. But until this day, the injured man hasn’t obtained the full amount.”

Is an 8-year sentence too harsh for a CS: GO skin?
At first glance, the aforementioned punishment certainly seems over the line. However, it is worth noting that the Czech Republic is currently under emergency because of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. As a result, even insignificant crimes have severe consequences attached.
This is not a unique incident in the Czech Republic. Another report suggests that a homeless man in Brno also faced an eight-year sentence for stealing five pizza buns worth $0.60.

The Medusa and Dragon Lore skins for the AWP top this list with a price of $2000, and $2020, respectively. Up next, there is the Howl for M4A4 that’s worth $1998.
