Daniel Cormier left the whole MMA community with two unanswered questions after his loss to Stipe Miocic in UFC 242. Is Daniel Cormier going to compete inside the octagon again? Who does he fight next? Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic.

Well, the former heavyweight champion has decided the final opponent of his fight career. And it is not going to be Jon Jones. On an interview with Ariel Helwani, Cormier announced:
“So I will go fight him (Stipe Miocic) again, Win or lose I am not fighting again. This will be the only time I will ever step foot into octagon again.”
When asked about the trilogy fight with Jon Jones, Cormier said: “Next one will be the last one. It has to be Stipe. No one else matters.”

Although Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones have the most notorious rivalry in UFC history, the fight with Stipe Miocic does make more sense for Cormier. He would want to avenge his loss against Miocic and end his career as the heavyweight champion in a division he had most of the success of his fight career.

Also, Cormier was winning the fight against Miocic until the 4th round. Stipe Miocic hurt DC with a few nasty body shots before throwing a beautiful combination to knock DC out. Hence it’s understandable why Cormier would chose to fight Stipe Miocic over Jon Jones.

At this moment I am fighting Stipe Miocic. and That’s it. I don’t know how they can convince me to stick around” said Cormier when Helwani asked whether he would accept the fight with Jon Jones after the fight with Stipe Miocic.

Daniel Cormier even said that he would have retired after the rematch with Miocic, had he won that fight. So it’s safe to assume that Cormier never had any intentions to have the third fight against Jon Jones.

However, that does leave Jones in a peculiar situation. The fights with Daniel Cormier were two of the biggest fights of Jones’s career. And the trilogy fight with DC would have been huge too. However, that’s off the table now and t’s safe to say that Jon Jones has dominated the entire lightweight division. So who does he fight next?

Jon Jones recently announced that he has a big fight news coming up. We have also come to know that Jon jones is interested in moving up to heavyweight. however, if it’s not Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier then who is the next opponent for Jon Jones.
