The 28-year-old has reached her first-ever Grand Slam final, her best previous position being the semi-final of the 2019 Australian Open. This is a great achievement for Collins, who has not only reached a final but has also cracked into the top 10 WTA Rankings.

Danielle Collins has climbed up the rankings massively

Collins’ previous highest ranking was 23 in the world back in January 2019, but she has outdone herself during the 2022 season. After her incredible run, she’s set to enter the top 10 for the first time in her career because of the massive points boost from the Slam.

Speaking on her results at the Australian Open 2022, she won the first couple of rounds without much difficulty, in straight sets. Post that, she faced a test in the third round when she had to come back from a set down to win the next two sets against Clara Tauson of Denmark.

Following that, she was up against Elise Mertens in the fourth round, and similar to the previous round, she had to come back from being a set down to claim the next two sets.

The American star then faced French tennis player Alize Cornet and won the match in straight sets. Interestingly, Cornet has knocked out some big names from the tournament this season.

Today, fans expected to be involved in a thrilling encounter as Collins was up against Swiatek. However, it was one-way traffic as Collins demolished the former French Open champion, winning the match in straight sets, 6-4 6-1.
