The 23-year-old, Daniil Medvedev was asked about his self-belief after he made it to six straight finals on the ATP circuit. He seemed delighted with his recent achievements but on the contrary, he eyes to break Federer’s record of Grand Slams. “I don’t know what more I need. I need to win 21 Grand Slams to beat Roger (smiling),” Daniil Medvedev said.

He talked about his wife and he says that she believes in him more than anyone else. A year ago, his wife told him he would soon crack into top-ten rankings of ATP when he was ranked outside the top-70 column.

“Yeah, I said, and it’s true because I have this funny story that one year ago, one year and one month ago, in Washington, before the tournament, I was practicing with Lucas Pouille. I was doing my best. I was a little bit jet-lagged so I didn’t play my best, but I was trying to win the set, the practice set,” he said.

“I was losing 6-0. My wife was there, and she was always telling me — I was like at this moment 60 or 70, and she was telling me that I’m going to be top 10 soon, that I can play good and stuff like this. And so during the practice I was looking at her and saying, Good top-10 player here, losing 6-0 in practice,” he added.

“And now it’s her turn. She always remembers me this. So what you said in Washington one year ago, Daniil? Can you remind me? That’s why I think she believes in me more than I do,” Daniil Medvedev.

On Sunday, the ATP’s machine tennis player, Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev, 6-4, 6-1 to pull off the Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019 title and won his second consecutive Masters 1000 title of his career. World Number four, Daniil Medvedev has won 59 matches this year and in striving to keep his winning streak unbroken.

With his unbroken streak of winning matches if he continues to keep that spirit high, Medvedev can possibly end the year as World Number three tennis player by surpassing the present World Number three, Roger Federer.
