In the past couple of years, World No. 4 Daniil Medvedev has truly taken the tennis world by storm. With time on his side, he is certain to get better and grow as a player. Amongst the next generation, he is one of the most exciting prospects in the men’s game. 

The Russian’s style of play is most suited for the hard courts. The results obtained over the past couple of seasons speak for themselves.

Daniil had some amazing matches at the US Open in 2019, falling short to Rafael Nadal in the final. The Spaniard gave credit to Medvedev for putting up an enthralling display.

Recently, while speaking to fantasy premier league, the Russian revealed his ritual before tough matches. Daniil said, “Ya it can be tough. Of course, I don’t wake up at night to watch matches. But when I have a tennis match to play, just to relax two hours before I watch a football match and run from the stress a little bit. That really helps a lot.”

On being further asked if he’d prefer to win the football fantasy league or a Grand Slam, he replied, “I would have to go for a Grand Slam. But imagine if I win a grand slam and find out I’m the first on fantasy, for sure that’s going to be the happiest day of my life.

Daniil Medvedev Is a Promising Talent

In 2019, Medvedev made it to six finals in a row, winning two of them. Those results highlighted that a new star was emerging in the game of tennis.

In the current year, Daniil finished the season on a high note. Having won the Rolex Paris Masters, he carried his impressive run into the season-ending ATP Finals.

In London, he was in the same group as Djokovic, Zverev, and Schwartzman. Daniil topped his group winning all the matches.

He then went on to beat Nadal in the semi-finals and eventually won the tournament, beating Thiem in the final. The fourth-best player in the world beat the world’s first, second, and third-ranked players to lift the trophy, making a strong statement.
