The Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019 gets underway on Sunday and the US Open runner-up, Daniil Medvedev is ready to continue his excellent form at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai.

Daniil Medvedev has not played since winning the St. Petersburg Open 2019 on 22nd September and will compete at the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019 after a two-week break. The No.3 seed, however, explained that his body is in good shape and he is all set to compete for his second Masters 1000 title of the 2019 season.

He said in the pre-tournament press conference, “I think my body is back in shape. I came here quite
early in Shanghai to get used to the conditions, to the jet lag and everything. Hopefully, I can be 100% in my first match.”

Daniil Medvedev has reached the finals of the last five tournaments that he played on the ATP tour including the summer hardcourt season in the USA. Talking about his key to success the Russian said: “Even when there are other distractions, to still try to have the main focus on the victory, and that’s why I win so much.”

Daniil Medvedev is the seeded third in Shanghai and is also the biggest threat to Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer after a breakthrough season. The 23-year-old has won the most number of matches in the 2019 season on the ATP Tour, triumphing in 53 matches so far. He also won 24 of his last 27 matches on hard court.

The Cincinnati Masters champion is projected to meet the world No.1 Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals and also has a potential quarterfinal with his compatriot Karen Khachanov.

A successful week for the Russian would be the ideal preparation heading into the start of the indoor season which culminates with the Nitto ATP Finals, which is scheduled from 10th November to 17th November in London.
