Manchester United are set to sign Matteo Darmian as Louis Van Gaal’s second signing this summer. Darmian might be part of the US tour which starts on Monday.

With interest from Napoli and Barcelona,  Darmian of Torino will be signing a 4-year contract at Old Trafford for a fee of around £13m. The 25-year old will earn in the region of £30,000 per week and will be a perfect fit in Louis van Gaal’s 11. After missing out on Dani Alves and Nathaniel Clyne, Manchester United were determined to bring a top class Right Back to their squad and it seems that they’ve almost done that. Louis van Gaal preferred Damian over Clyne and claims that Darmian would be key to solving United’s defensive woes.

A pacy defender, Darmian played in all the group matches in the World Cup 2014. He can play at both right-back and left-back and is very good with both feet. He has good technique and has ample experience with the Italian squad. Also, he is one of those players who can defend and assist as well. A player like him is needed at Manchester United who’ve faced a lot of trouble in their defense, especially the Right-back position. Smalling, Jones or Valencia had to fit in because of lack of consistency in their primary Right-back, Rafael da Silva.

Van Gaal is also trying to sell Rafael and will consider any offers for Johnny Evans, who has not been given a new contract.
