Darren Collison Pips Clippers to Agree a Deal with the Lakers: Reports

Los Angeles Lakers are known to have agreed to a deal with veteran guard Darren Collison.
The Lakers have been linked to many veteran guards recently. The immediate need for one seemed evident during the busy festive period where they lost four consecutive games for the first time in the season. The need for options beyond LeBron James and Anthony Davis felt necessary. Although the duo has been consistent, they will be needing load management.
Players like DJ Augustin and Darren Collinson have been linked with a move to the Lakers.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has now reported that Collinson has agreed to a deal with Los Angeles Lakers. Lakers are known to have had competition for the 32-year old’s signature from a few other teams, the biggest from their neighbours, Los Angeles Clippers. Collinson is reported to have chosen the Lakers.
Darren Collison- a former Clipper
Collison has been in the NBA since 2009 and had announced his retirement in 2019. But it was earlier reported that he would be coming out of retirement.
Collison played college basketball for the University of California’s UCLA Bruins team. After playing the joint-most number of matches for the UCLA (142 games), Collison had come out as one of the top point guard prospects for the 2009 NBA Draft. He was drafted in by the New Orleans Hornets with the 21st overall pick.

He played for three different teams in the next four seasons. He was traded to Indiana Pacers in 2010, where he played for two seasons, before playing a season for the Dallas Mavericks.

In 2013, Collison signed a deal with Los Angeles Clippers, but played only one season. He then played three seasons with the Sacramento Kings, before coming back to Indiana in 2017.
In June 2019, Collison had announced retirement saying he wanted to focus on his faith, but he is now reported to be coming back to play for the Lakers.
