It was a much-awaited day for the NASCAR world to witness the race at The Clash at the Coliseum ahead of the Daytona 500. With a lot of excitement also came some traction, or lack of it for Denny Hamlin. It was the moment when Hamlin spun around during the race.

The two loggerheads, Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain, always seem to find their way against each other, and mostly not for good reasons. This time, The Clash at the Coliseum went under caution during the 74th lap after Hamlin spun. It was none other than Chastain in his #1 Chevrolet Camaro that bumped Hamlin’s #11 Toyota Camry.

Denny Hamlin not pointing fingers

An interview with Hamlin posted on YouTube’s Frontstretch channel created more buzz. Bryan Nolen of Frontstretch met with Denny Hamlin after the NASCAR Cup Series race. He asked Hamlin what he would like to comment on his spin by Ross Chastain during the race. Hamlin said, “I mean, I could be mad at Ross if I can be mad at five other guys and about seven others could be mad at me. It’s hard to really point fingers. Certainly, I’m not happy, but I mean, what can you do? We’re all just jammed up there.”

The Joe Gibbs Racing star thought that Chastain was pretty low and maybe he was right on his line. He said, “I ran later. You know, after I saw how low he was, I went just as low and probably wiped somebody out. I think I don’t even know after that, so it’s hard to really kind of point fingers with all the chaos that was going on.”

Though this is the first incident this year between the two, it looks like Hamlin is not angry at Chastain. Rather, he blamed it all on the chaos on the tracks.

Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain spin moments from before

Last year Hamlin and the Trackhouse Racing driver had quite a few of these moments. It all began with the race at Gateway in June when Chastain bumped into Hamlin’s rear bumper, causing him to spin. Then a few weeks later Chastain again spun the 23XI Racing co-owner in Atlanta. During the incident, his car went sideways across the track and later spun out.

In October last year, Ross Chastain pulled the craziest move against the wall to qualify for Championship 4. He was running 10th on the last lap of the Xfinity 500 race at Martinsville and did not have a lane to pass. Chastain intentionally slammed his car into the wall and rode the boards, crossing Hamlin’s car and making it to the finish line. Though Hamlin had his way of dealing with all the drama, he certainly didn’t leave a chance to take a dig at him when the DBC crew declared him “What an Idiot of This Week.”
