These are the words with which everyone remembers the all-time great shortstop Derek Jeter. He was the latest entrant to the baseball hall of fame. It is disheartening to see that he fell short of a single vote for unanimous. Currently, he stands 2nd in the list of Hall of Famers in terms of votes received just behind his fellow Yankee Moriano Riviera. Most importantly, Derek Jeter is way ahead of the legends Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra in terms of percentage votes received.

Derek Jeter started his career with the New York Yankees on May 29, 1995, positioned at shortstop replacing Tony Fernandez. He played all 20 of his seasons for the Yankees in the same position. In his final game at Yankee Stadium, Derek Jeter hit a walk-off single against Orioles win the game, 6–5.
He played his final match on September 28, 2014, at the Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. It was Didi Gregorius who replaced the captain for the 2015 season. So he is regarded as one of the primary contributors to the Yankees’ success of the late 1990s and early 2000s for his hitting, baserunning, fielding, and leadership.
