Despite growing up with their dad’s fame and fortune, there is valid proof that the O’Neal kids are far from spoiled. Regardless, Shaquille O’Neal has a certain parenting philosophy he sticks by. He’s not going to let any of his kids get an easy ride off his fame. While on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ he revealed he has some shameless tactics to let them down.

Shaquille O’Neal lies to his kids on occasion

Parents tend to say the white lie every now and then. Shaquille O’Neal is just more brazen about it. He told Jennifer Hudson that while he loves his kids, he turns them down with a tall fib. He started off by saying, “I’m blessed I have six wonderful kids. They don’t give me problems.”

Despite that, he once said something that upset them. It was both a joke and a serious comment when Shaq told his children, “You can’t touch Daddy’s cheese until you get two degrees.”

That is Dr. Shaq with three degrees to his name. The same education activist who told his kids they have no excuse to bring home a C with all the resources at their disposal.

That’s not what really upset the kids though. “They call me for money every now and then and I’ll be like ‘I ain’t got it. Daddy broke.”

Now that’s a bare-faced lie as big as Big Aristotle. Shaq’s kids would be aware that their NBA legend dad’s “cheese” is worth $400 million. To get a sliver of that treat, the O’Neal kids have to prove themselves.

Shaq raises his kids with standards

O’Neal, the new investor in the EdTech field, would claim that when he was young, his best resource was a borrowed encyclopedia.

He expects his kids to surpass that with advancing technology. Shaq has repeatedly proclaimed that his kids don’t get to ride on his fame. They get to enjoy the perks of being his kid, like joining him on his private jet. But he sets conditions for it.

He reminds them that his money is his and they ought to make his own. He proudly informed Hudson that “They’re young and they’re doing their own thing now.” As Shareef O’Neal would claim his name is not “Shaq’s son.

Shaq would never miss a chance to show his support to his kids is more than financial. From performing with Myles to attending everyone of his younger kids’ games, he’s a supportive dad. If he has to ensure they stay on that track with his outlandish tactics, he’s glad to be the bad cop.

Do you relate to having a dad like Shaq?
