“Didn’t Bother Me”: Sha’Carri Richardson Reacts to Her Exclusion From USA’s Tokyo Olympics 2021

After Sha’Carri Richardson was handed a 30-day suspension for consuming marijuana, her dream of running for the USA at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 was shattered. But her suspension concludes in the middle of the Tokyo Olympics 2021, and hence she had a small chance of running at the 4x100m relay race. But her name was excluded from the final list and now she has given her thoughts on the issue.
Sha’Carri Richardson spoke about her exclusion from the final USA track and field contingent heading to Tokyo Olympics. She clarified that it was an off-chance that she might race at the 100 meters relay and hence she didn’t have any expectations.
“Honestly, that news didn’t bother me because me and my team were realistic, so we kind of figured that they would say that in the first place,” Sha’Carri Richardson said.

Richardson is one of the fastest in the world in 100m. She was going for gold, but that ill-fated marijuana test resulted in her suspension. Her suspension will run through the 100m event in Tokyo, however, it ends before the 100m relay. So many people thought that Sha’Carri would participate in that, but she has been replaced by Aleia Hobbs and English Gardner.
“I’m sorry, I can’t be y’all Olympic Champ this year but I promise I’ll be your World Champ next year,” Richardson wrote in a tweet.
Why did Sha’Carri Richardson consume marijuana before Tokyo Olympics 2021?
Sha’Carri had consumed marijuana to cope with her mother’s untimely demise. It so happened that hr mother passed away before the race in which Sha’Carri qualified for the Olympics.

“(I’m) not making an excuse or looking for any empathy in my case, but, however, being in that position in my life, finding out something like that, something that I would say is probably one of the biggest things that have impacted me … that definitely was a very heavy topic on me,” she said.
