“Didn’t Feel Like I Belonged to the Tour”: Alize Cornet Details Her Rough Road in the Recent Past

French tennis player Alize Cornet has been on the Tour for more than a decade. She is a veteran and is very well known on Tour. In her career so far, she has won six singles titles and four titles in the doubles category.
Recently, Alize Cornet penned down her autobiography. In it, she states that she felt isolated in the beginning and felt as if she was in a new world all by herself. Although the players on Tour keep seeing each other on a regular basis, the feeling of unfamiliarity still existed.

The 31-year-old stated, “I didn’t feel like I belonged to the tour in the beginning, like this world was very solitary and alone. In some ways, it’s like a big family and in other ways, it isn’t, because we all know each other but we don’t really know each other at all. We don’t have deep connections and it’s all surface relationships. In the beginning, I was afraid of this side of the tour, and I stayed so much with my coach and my mom.”

Alize Cornet had a lackluster 2021 season
Reflecting on her season so far, Alize began competing in Melbourne and ended up losing in the second round of the Australian Open. After that, on her home turf, she crashed out in the opening round of the French Open.
Later on, she was seen on the grass courts of the All England Club. Sadly, she suffered an early exit by losing in the second round of the competition. She was most recently seen in New York at the US Open. However, her journey was cut short as she exited after a first-round loss.
