Simona Halep won her semi-final match against Irina Begu. She was trailing 5-6 in the first set but she managed to seal it in the tiebreaker. She talked about this and said“I didn’t play my best tennis but also she was tired, so in my opinion, it was a good match. I’m really happy that I could win it. It’s always tough to play against her. She’s a great player.”

The Romanian is now going to be facing Elise Mertens who she has faced four times before. She won three of those meetings. She went on to say“Finals are very difficult. So, it doesn’t matter what I did before, it matters only the match from tomorrow. I’m going to give my best because I really want to win it but it’s never easy. I just try to recover until tomorrow and tomorrow, enjoy the fact that I get to play another final.”

Everyone is going to be hoping that Halep will play very well in the finals of the Prague Open. But the big question on everybody’s mind will be – is she going to play the US Open after this event? Unfortunately, this doesn’t look too likely.

Before Halep left for the Prague Open, she gave a statement regarding her participation at the US Open. While she said that she wasn’t planning on playing the tournament at the moment, she also hasn’t officially confirmed her withdrawal.
