Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has had a rough time this season. The former World No. 1 player has missed a lot of tennis in 2021, being absent at the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships. She suffered from a calf injury earlier this season, which has had bad effects on the athlete.

Due to these recent developments with Simona Halep, she has lost positions in her rankings. She is on the 10th spot and is on the verge of being out of the top 10 if she remains away from the Tour for a further duration. It would be the first time in 10 years that the Romanian would see herself in this position.

At the beginning of the season, Halep was the World No. 2. However, she injured her shoulder in Miami which had an impact on her performance. In Rome, she withdrew from the event due to a muscle tear in her calf. She was facing Germany’s Angelique Kerber when this incident occurred.

Till the last week of June, Simona was the third-ranked player in the world. Unfortunately, in less than a month, she has slipped further behind in the rankings.
