Former Word No. 1 Serena Williams has by far been the most successful women’s player in the modern era. Her contribution to the sport has been unquestionable. Her hunger and desire to compete for the biggest honors are still high after all the success achieved. 

Recently, in a clip, Serena Williams was seen giving tennis lessons to her daughter Olympia. She was following her father, Richard Williams’ advice and was transferring it to Olympia. On seeing the clip, her husband Alexis Ohanian was impressed with his daughter’s skills and complimented her.

The Reddit co-founder stated, “Love this kid. She’s doing just as well in her math practice, too. Programming soon.” Interestingly, he was impressed with her tennis skills and was happy with her academics, namely math. Olympia is one talented child as we’ve seen her engage in various activities. Now that she has picked up a liking for tennis, it would be nice to see her play the sport at a competitive level in the future. 

Moving on to tennis this season, Williams began her journey in Australia. She was impressive in all her matches until the semifinal, where she lost to eventual champion Naomi Osaka. After that, she took a break as she dealt with a few niggles. 

Serena Williams had a poor clay-court season

She was later seen in Rome, for the final WTA 1000 clay-court event of the season. However, her performances on the clay courts were unimpressive as she lost in the early stages. Just before the French Open 2021, she featured in Parma as she wanted more match practice on the clay courts and since she was resuming her season after a lengthy duration.

In the French Open 2021, she did look shaky and her stint ended in the fourth round. Now, she is busy preparing herself for the grass-court season. However, she has decided not to play any warm-up tournament prior and will be directly seen on the courts at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. It will be interesting to see how she performs in London.
