Dominic Thiem Jokes About Playing Mixed Doubles With Serena Williams

After having a triumphant run at the French Open 2019, Dominic Thiem returned to Vienna, Austria. He was ejected in the midst of his press conference at Roland-Garros after his third round match because the reporters wanted Serena Williams in the interview room instead of him, and she had her third-round match to Sofia Kenin.

Over there, Thiem mentioned about Serena displaying  “bad personality”. Upon his return to Austria in the press conference, Dominic Thiem addressed about that incident. “With some distance, it was strange, but not annoying, now it was funny, something like that has never happened to me,” the World Number four said. “I feel a bit sorry for what happened. Maybe we can play mixed doubles in Wimbledon one day.”

Dominic Thiem admires Serena Williams for what she has achieved throughout her tennis career and he has deep-rooted respect and regard for the 38-year-old Career Grand Slam champion.

“I want to make clear, what Serena achieved in her career is out of everyone’s imagination. I also want to clarify once again that I find the achievements of Serena Williams unbelievable, what she has won and what she has done for women’s tennis, which is absolutely sensational,” Dominic Thiem added.

The Austrian, Dominic Thiem made it to the finals at Roland Garros for the second consecutive time. Despite losing to Rafael Nadal, he became the only active ATP player aged under 28 to pull off a set in the Grand Slam finals.

Also, the new era contender, Thiem’s performance at the Roland-Garros semifinals was sensational, where he snapped the World Number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic’s Grand Slam winning streak in five sets.

After his long stay in Paris, Thiem decides to show up at the Halle Open which will be starting next week.
