“Don’t Copy Any Style”: Carlos Alcaraz on Drawing Parallels With Roger Federer’s Style of Play

Tennis superstar Roger Federer has thrilled fans for ages. The manner in which he commands himself on and off the courts has been second to none. Over the years, he has garnered an army of fan following across the globe. Drop into any country on the globe and you can bet your bottom dollar Federer has a fan there.

Recently, rising tennis talent Carlos Alcaraz spoke on his style of play. He does find his game more likely towards Roger Federer’s approach. The Spanish teenager feels they both have an aggressive attitude in their games and they like to take the game onto their opponents.

The 18-year-old spoke on this and stated, “Honestly I don’t copy any style of a player. I just play my game. But if I have to say, one player that is similar to my game, I think it’s [Roger] Federer. I think similar to my game, trying to be aggressive all the time. I think it’s a good [comparison] for me. Trying to be aggressive all the time with the forehand, backhand. I think I have to improve a little bit the serve. But I think is similar, yeah.”

Roger Federer has ended his 2021 season

Speaking of the Swiss ace, he ended his season after revealing that he would be requiring another knee surgery. He confessed that he would be on crutches for a while and on the sidelines for even longer. We hope to see him back on the Tour soon.

On the other hand, Carlos registered the biggest win of his career by knocking out World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas out of the US Open 2021. We wish him the very best for the upcoming matches and the rest of the tournament.
