Novak Djokovic came up with a shocking proposal just before the US Open started. He wanted to form a separate Professional Tennis Players Association, and he had the backing of many players.

However, there were many who didn’t like his idea at all, and Tennis legend Billie Jean King is one of them. In a recent interview, she said,
“What tennis has to understand is please don’t keep arguing among ourselves so much because we have to figure out how to compete against other sports – we need to be working together…I don’t know what the heck he’s trying, I don’t know if he knows how hard it is.”

Other critics of Novak Djokovic
Billie Jean King was not the only vocal critic of Novak Djokovic. Two of the most prominent ones were the Serb’s biggest rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Both of them felt that at such a time, the tennis world had to be united and not divided.

The Serb, however, did not get into a major argument with them. Instead, he wants to convince them about the proposal by having a meaningful conversation. He recently revealed when he will do that with Rafa, as he said,
“Maybe there will be time for that next week before Roland Garros when we don’t have matches for maybe three-four days and maybe that will be a chance to do it.”

This conversation may or may not be successful. But, Novak Djokovic will definitely try his best and many stakeholders hope that he will succeed in bringing all players on board with his proposal.
