World No.30 Milos Raonic has joined the Professional Tennis Players Association, which represents the interests of the tennis players. Raonic has been critical in the manner the ATP has handled the coronavirus situation over the last six months.

Yesterday, Milos lost to Novak Djokovic in the final of the Western and Southern Open 2020. Despite winning the first set, Raonic let the match slip away and conceded to Djokovic in the deciding set, who won a record 35th Masters 1000 title.
Recently, in an interview, the Canadian was asked about whether WTA players should be part of the players association. The reporter added whether Raonic found it surprising that women players were not asked despite Vasek Pospisil being the host of Tennis United.

“I don’t know what the reason is. But I think, you know, just like with I think what the last thing was, as well. I think that Vasek, which I believe is the right approach, is the people closest to him, his direct colleagues, he’s like, are we together first? and then you reach out.” said Raonic during the interview.
Tennis is inclusive to everybody says Milos Raonic
During the interview, the reporter asked Raonic whether players from both tours should be part of the players association. Raonic responded with a big yes and spoke about tennis being an inclusive sport.
“Yes, I think they should. At the end of the day, tennis is a sport. It’s inclusive to everybody. If you can hit a ball and you can do it properly at a pretty high level, everybody has an opportunity in this sport ” remarked Raonic.
Raonic feels the men’s union will be needing the women’s support and vice versa. The runner up at Cincinnati Masters 2020 added that he will support the association because it stands for the right cause. But he is not inclined to handle the day-to-day functions of the association.
As the US Open 2020 starts tomorrow, Milos Raonic is scheduled to face Leonardo Mayer in the opening round. The Canadian is seeded No.25 and might face Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round at Flushing Meadows.
