Golden State Warriors registered their first win in the 2019/20 NBA season, down the road to New Orleans Pelicans on Monday as  Draymond Green registered his 33rd career triple double.

The Warriors did not have good start to the season after being comprehensively beaten by Los Angeles Clippers on the opening night and later suffering a shock defeat to Oklahoma City Thunder.

Talking about their defeats, a few among the Warriors, including their coach Steve Kerr and Green, had conceded that they are not the best of teams, and Green, after the win against Pelicans still remains of the same opinion.

“We’re still not a very good team,” he was quoted as saying by Nick Friedell of ESPN. “We have a lot of room for improvement. Just because we won one game doesn’t mean we don’t suck right now. We still have a lot of improvement to do.”

A lot has been talked about the importance of Stephen Curry in the team now with Kevin Durant gone and Klay Thompson injured. Curry managed 26 points, 11 assists and three rebounds in Monday’s game. He had expressed similar feelings about the team after their earlier defeats.

Now, after his team’s first victory, Curry said as per Anthony Slater of the Athletic: “Everybody loves to label you when you’re down or when you’re losing. That’s easy. It’s easy to get on TV and say whatever you want, that’s easy. Just throw darts at a team that’s trying to figure it out based on how much success we’ve had.”

I would hope people can start to see through that and understand what we’re about as a team and what we’re going to build towards. If you want to get on and say whatever you want to say and fill that 24 hour news cycle that’s cool with us. We’re still going to hoop and just play”
