What started as a rumored affair till the couple decided to end of all speculations and shed all inhibitions about being seen together, even to the extent of being pictured holding hands or playing mixed doubles, for that matter, blossomed into a steady relationship that met its logical end through a ceremonial exchange of rings and solemn vows at a church wedding.

In his latest tweet, Monfils shared an image posted by Svitolina from their wedding day as they ride back in a limousine after taking their wedding vows.

While the Ukrainian World No.6 captioned the picture saying, “Let the journey begin (love emoji) @GaelMonfils”, the Frenchman simply captioned it with heart emojis.

Monfils, clad in a purple tuxedo with a freshly picked violet tucked neatly into his breast pocket, and Svitolina glowing in a dazzling white wedding dress are seen smiling into the camera.

The married couple broke up briefly last year

Last year, Svitolina, shocked fans with a social post saying that she and her then-boyfriend had decided to take a break in their relationship.

Though the post didn’t go into the reasons why they had to consciously uncouple, it did hint that they had determined that it was for the best.

However, the exchange of cryptic social media messages set off buzz that the couple may be getting back together.

The buzz grew stronger with time and the couple sent their fans into raptures after the Ukrainian tennis star broke the news of their engagement on social media.

Svitolina shared an image showing off a dazzling engagement ring in the majestic backdrop of snow-capped mountain peaks. Another image showed the veteran French tennis star and her betrothed posing happily for a selfie.

However, all of that is now in the past, as the two have officially promised themselves to each other for a lifetime to ahead. And now that they are officially man and wife, their fans would hope for them to return as a mixed doubles pair before long.
