Elina Svitolina Slumps in WTA Rankings, Out of Top 10 for the First Time Since 2017

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has been a prominent name in the women’s circuit in recent year. Sadly, she hasn’t been at her best in the 2021 season. She has witnessed some poor results in recent times.

Most recently, Svitolina was competing at the Tenerife Ladies Open, where she was the top-seed. Surprisingly, the Ukranian was eliminated in the first round itself by the 19-year-old Colombian, Camila Osorio. As a result of the poor results, Elina Svitolina has slipped down the rankings in the WTA circuit.

Elina Svitolina has registered unfortunate results 

After losing in the Round of 16 at the Indian Wells 2021 and following that by losing in the opening round of the Tenerife Ladies Open 2021, Elina has slipped down the rankings for the first time since 2017. Svitolina has dropped down by 8 spots and has gone down to the 14th spot.

Elina’s best ranking came during the 2017 season when she reached as high as the World No. 3 position. Since then, she managed to remain amongst the top 10 players on the WTA circuit with consistent performances.

It comes as a huge disappointment for a player to drop out of the top rankings after a spell of four years. However, the Ukrainian player has displayed a ruthless attitude when it comes to fighting her way up to the top, and she will be looking to regain her spot as soon as possible.
