Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu are two of the most popular tennis players in the women’s circuit today. Throughout 2021, Emma and Naomi have dominated the headlines for various reasons. They were also two of the four Grand Slam winners from the WTA Tour this year. 

Recently, it was released that Raducanu and Osaka feature amongst the top five female athletes who gained the most followers on Twitter. The teenager is in the second position and the 24-year-old is in fifth. 

Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu gained a huge following in 2021

Speaking about their 2021 seasons, Osaka began the season on a great note, winning her fourth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. After that, things took a downturn for the Japanese player as she struggled with mental health issues.

During the French Open this year, she mentioned that she would not participate in press conferences due to said concerns. As the season went along, many athletes came out in support of Osaka and revealed they have faced similar issues as well.

Reflecting on the situation, Naomi was one of the first players to mention this issue and was bold enough to come out in public. After that, she was the one who lit up the Olympic cauldron for the Tokyo Olympics.

Osaka and Raducanu both had eventful years  

Raducanu first rose to prominence when she made it to the second week of the Wimbledon Championships. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw during her fourth-round match. 

After that, she had the most memorable moment of her life so far. She won the US Open in her first appearance at the venue. During the event, she came from qualifying and went on to clinch the title without dropping a set.

Since then, she has been on cloud nine, attending some of the most high-profile gatherings and signing a number of endorsement deals.
