Yesterday, British teenager Emma Raducanu created history today by being the first player to win a Major as a qualifier. She was up against another upcoming talent, Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez. They competed in the final of the US Open 2021. Both players will certainly go down in history on their recent stints.

After winning the title, Emma Raducanu spoke about her parents. She wished they had been there along with her and that they could all celebrate this memorable moment together. At the same time, she knows they were watching the match and that she made them proud by winning the title.

The 18-year-old stated, “Yeah I spoke to my parents. We don’t really talk much about tennis but they just want to know how am I in these moments and you know to not have them here with me I would’ve loved for them to be here and we can all like celebrate together with and they could be with me and experience the same things but you know they’re watching from home and are very proud. I think my dad said to me you’re even better than your dad thought so that was a reassuring tiny temper reference. My dad’s tough to please but I managed to today.”

Emma Raducanu did not drop a set the entire US Open 2021

Reflecting on the match today, Emma managed to win yet another match in straight sets. She entered this event as a qualifier but sailed through right till the end. This was her first attempt in the final Grand Slam tournament of the season and finished off in style, winning the US Open 2021.
