Due to a very unfortunate incident, the Dutch pair of Adelinde Cornelissen and Governor-STR had to quit the European Dressage Championship owning to the blood rules.
Adelinde Cornelissen is a professional equestrian athlete. The 42-year-old, hailing from the Netherlands, has had several feats over the course of years. Cornelissen not only bagged two Olympic medals in London but has also bagged gold and two bronze in World Championships.
She won her first senior title at the national level when she obtained the Z2-class with Parzival. Parzival, her ride, has been her constant companion starting from 2009, until 2016. In the year 2010, while competing at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, Cornelissen was removed from the Grand prix since her horse, Parzival’s mouth was filled with blood. Since the horse had bitten his tongue, it was imperative for the duo to stop the play.
