2K Games has always been ahead of its product, whether it’s a game or an advertisement. This is especially true as the recent PGA Tour 2K23 commercial shows the Golf legend, Tiger Woods, and other celebrities in a holiday special commercial announcing the heavy discounts for Christmas.

The commercial is also special as it brings back some rather amazing cameos, just like its previous launch trailer did. And this time it’s a hilarious ‘Happy Gilmore’ reference featuring the voice of ‘Superman’ himself.

Golf games are rather slow paced, just like the original game is. But in the past couple of years, 2K games have cracked a code that not many game developers have been able to crack. The development studio has experimented with not just golf, but with basketball, football and many more field sports and is making some rather interesting choices to go with.

This was seen recently when in a Christmas-themed commercial for the December sales of the game, Golf Legend Tiger Woods was seen striking golf balls across the country to other golfers. Notably, though there was one rather unusual golfer in the advertisement, who was none other than Christopher McDonald.

For those who don’t know, Christopher McDonald has played several villainous roles in films, out of which he stood out in the role of shooter McGavin in the 1996 comedy, Happy Gilmore. Thus, in the commercial as well, he was seen paying homage to his own role in the film. Christopher McDonalds is also known for his voice acting in Superman movies and series where he lends his voice to the Man of Steel.

Why is PGA Tour 2K23 launching the commercial?

Since the holiday season is already around the corner, the best open-world golfing game of 2022 is going live for sale. And this time the discounts are up to 35%. This is also important as fans of the franchise complained that the game is too expensive regardless of its quality, thus this discount can be a great way for fans to try the game out firsthand, since its launch.
