Every gaming fan knows about the rivalry between Xbox and PlayStation. Both console makers are constantly trying to entice users with new games. Recently, fans of these consoles got into a battle to see which console maker made a better special edition console. Meanwhile, one person benefited from the war between these consoles – NBA superstar LeBron James.
The basketball athlete has been a gaming fan all his life. However, he also has a strong business acumen which has helped him get the best of both worlds amid the PlayStation vs Xbox console wars.

LeBron James launches a limited edition PlayStation 5 alongside Sony
The NBA athlete recently posted a tweet showcasing LeBron James’ Limited Edition PlayStation 5 controller and console covers. He also has some kind words for this release, stating, “It’s still crazy to think a kid from Akron who grew up playing games is getting to create something like this. Designing a console cover and controller with PlayStation that gives a nod to my I Promise students and where we come from is a pretty cool thing.”

Many PlayStation fans are excited about this upcoming bundle from the NBA athlete. Furthermore, the controller will be priced at $79.99 and the console covers will be available at $64.99. This lucrative pricing for the limited edition set has brought forth a question in the hearts of many gaming fans.
Back in 2021, LeBron James released a bundle for Xbox consoles in collaboration with Nike and Space Jam. This bundle had custom Nike shows along with a custom Xbox controller. After its release, Xbox sales fairly shot up. Now fans are wondering if James will be able to do the same for PlayStation. His loyal fans believe the LeBron James effect will work.
Will the NBA athlete be a key player in the $700 billion console war?
Some fans have argued that PlayStation is currently the market leader in sales and does not require more help. Whether or not James will help increase the sales of the PlayStation consoles will be known in the future. However, it can be stated that the NBA athlete is enjoying the best of both worlds having collaborated with both players in the console wars.
