First-person shooters are part of very dangerous territory. Sometimes they can be extremely overwhelming to play, while in others they are just simple point-and-click experiences. This is further added with the concept of storytelling to a wider range. Games like Far Cry 3 and BioShock are examples of such immersive gameplay.

Although it can be argued that these are once-in-a-lifetime hits but the way these games were capable of telling a story from someone else’s perspective is commendable. The same is the case with CoD, but with more consecutive hits than others.
