However, Elon Musk also has his own theory about the reality itself that we all live in. According to the billionaire, the actual, real life could also be termed a video game. Well, that’s exactly what he tried to emphasis through a hypothesis, several years ago.

When Elon Musk, through his “simulation hypothesis”, tried to explain how the world is merely a video game!
It was during the year 2016, at the Recode Conference, when the Tesla co-founder was having a conversation with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher. The latter is Recode’s co-founder and also executive editor.
In between the discussion on all things technology, he also talked about life and the entire reality itself. This came in response to a journalist who had asked him regarding this topic.

Elon Musk, in his reply, presented a “simulation hypothesis”. According to him, everyone who’s living inside this world could be part of a simulation reality. That is, we might be living inside a world, similar to a video game, created by an advanced civilization. And that nothing that we experience or do is real.

Giving the example of the old game Pong, he said that forty years ago, that was how the video games were perceived.

“Now, 40 years later, we have photo-realistic, 3-D simulations with millions of people playing simultaneously, and it’s getting better every year. … If you assume any rate of improvement at all, then the games will become indistinguishable from reality,” Musk said.

In a way, one can relate his explanation to a very famous EA franchise, The Sims. Perhaps it’s the best example to show how a simulation actually works, as its characters are also a part of a series of life simulations.
