The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has already caused the unfortunate loss of many innocent lives. A young boy from Ukraine named Ostap was forced to join the war to defend his country against Russia. Before being left with no option, Oni was an eSports enthusiast and had streamed playing Counter-Strike. 

Now, amidst the news of the twenty-year-old boy’s tragic death, the gaming community mourns the loss which feels so personal. 

Ostap’s father confirmed the tragic news

The popular streamer from Ukraine, Onistrat Andrii, also the father of the boy, confirmed the news of Ostap’s death to the community. Taking his feelings to his Instagram post, he wrote, “Many Different sensations. It hurts. At some stage, I realized that he is much better versed in everything related to weapons, crew, various equipment.”

He added, “I remembered the story of how he picked up a Bronic for me and I insisted that side plates should be ordered. He said that it was necessary…Then he regretted it. Ostap constantly reminded me of this with a wink. He was offended that I insisted on my point. Top quality in everything!.” 

The father-son duo were into eSports but were currently off-grid serving the country. Although, the father was against the decision of his son going to war. The father expressed his grief at the unbearable loss on Instagram through a thread of heartbreaking posts.

This hasn’t been the first time that the ongoing war has shattered the hearts of eSports lovers. The gaming community is aware of how some people do not have the privilege of choice. A lot of popular streamers earlier had to give up gaming and go to war for the sake of their nation’s security. The news caught the eyes of the Counter-Strike fan community all around the world. The CS fans offered their condolences on Twitter. Here are some tweets that express their grief to the Counter-Strike budding champion. 

“I’m a year older than him and I can’t imagine my life taken already” wrote a fan.
