One of the biggest stages of the CS: GO Esports front is the IEN Katowice trophy. The competition is immense as many prominent and talented rosters participate to get their clutches on the crown. With insane teams like Team Liquid, Heroic, and Natus Vincere participating, the Katowice championship is a tough competition for the contenders.

But, G2 Esports rampaged through one team after another to pave their success path towards victory. With HooXi at the helm, G2 etched their names on the trophy with a dream run through the brackets.

The dream run of G2

The team of HooXi, hunter, NiKo, M0NESY, and jks defeated BIG (Berlin International Gaming) in the upper bracket Group A quarter-finals. They went on to defeat the former champs FaZe clan in the semis and defeated the CS: GO legend S1imple’s Natus Vincere in the Group A upper bracket finals.

This gave them direct entry to the playoff semi-finals where they thrashed Team Liquid 2-0. This also marked the second-longest map win streak in the CS: GO Esports history. The first position is still held by Ninjas in Pajamas with 87 map points.

In the finals, they faced Heroic who took away the record by winning 1 map against G2. But the latter defeated them in the best of 5 (3-1) to win their first-ever IEM Katowice trophy.

This is the second consecutive successful run the team is having. They won their previous championship, which was the Blast Premier: World Finals 2022. They defeated Team Liquid in the finals 2-0 to win that title.

Justin JKS Savage also made a history of achieving back-to-back IEM Katowice trophies for different franchises. The team is looking forward to continuing their dream run as long as possible and defeat whichever team stands in their way to glory.
