Ever since Activision was acquired by Microsoft, many gamers have wondered what this means for the studio’s older titles. Over the years Activision has worked on many games that fans have been desperately waiting to see a sequel of. Among these games, Prototype 3 has often been the most discussed amongst the gaming community.

Back in 2009, Activision dropped Prototype and avid gamers who played the game knew that Activision had a gem on their hands. After playing the sequel from 2012, many players felt like the story didn’t end with a proper conclusion. Players have always wanted more from the franchise and now with Activision coming under Microsoft’s umbrella, fans have renewed hopes that a new Prototype game could release in the future.

In the post on X, one user brought up the decade-old game for discussion. The user satirically posted a statement saying “If Microsoft doesn’t force Activision to make a PROTOTYPE Game, I will throw my Xbox Console from the seventh floor and never buy any of their games.

This post had people wondering about the possibilities of Microsoft reviving the game. It is not unusual for the industry titan to bring back games after they have discontinued them. This could be a good chance for Microsoft to have more games to put up against Sony’s ever-growing library of exclusive games.

Upon hearing someone talk about its revival, fans started to make their way to the comments section to share their thoughts.

Fans give their ideas for the revival of Prototype

While most discussed the possibility of the game, some users were more focused on the joke that the original poster made. They asked the poster to throw away their Xbox from the seventh floor “right now.” To this, the original poster spoke about their speculation rooting from the trailer of the acquisition.

One fan of Activision made a sarcastic comment on the original poster, jokingly saying that Microsoft could face ruin because the original poster decided to throw out his Xbox.

This fan described exactly what they want from the next edition of the game.

While there is no confirmation that there are plans for Activision to revive the franchise, many fans hope that they do. Prototype was a game that changed how RPGs felt mechanically. Moreover, it was an enormous leap in the right direction for the genre. These traits cemented its status as an iconic game.
