If one says the term ‘Nintendo’s hand-held’ in 2022, most people would immediately think of the Nintendo Switch. This isn’t surprising as everyone but the most hardcore Nintendo fans remember the humble Wii U. Launched in 2012, the Wii U turned out to be a flop, relative to Nintendo’s ambitions for the console.
Selling only a meager 13.56 million units worldwide, the console serves as little more than a measuring stick for Nintendo’s later consoles today. That’s not to say the black rectangle didn’t have its share of happy customers with its 6.2-inch resistive touchscreen and true HD capabilities. And it would delight those fans to know that there is a new Wii U game headed their way in 2022.

Nintendo fans can finally turn their Wii U back on
Amidst the soaring sales of the Switch, Nintendo’s latest flagship, the Wii U has been abandoned in terms of first party support for a long time. But thanks to indie game developers like Ultra Dolphin Revolution, creators of ‘Captain U’ released on the console in 2021, the platform is not completely dead yet.
Following in their footsteps, another indie game called ‘Silver Falls White Inside Its Umbra’ will release sometime later this year. First revealed on Sungrand Studio’s YouTube handle, the game already has a lot of hype surrounding it due to it being one of the Wii U’s only new titles in years.

The game is a continuation of the Silver Falls franchise, a horror video game series about a small mysterious mountain town plagued by decades of UFO activity. If that sounded interesting, then wait till you hear about some of the features incorporated into the game.
The developer has incorporated the Balance Board into the games’ mechanics so that players can control their movement via the system. This has the potential to make for a more immersive experience.

Additionally, players can turn their Wii U screens to use it as a giant cellphone. This harkens back to the old days of the console where novel ideas saw implementation into games owing to the Wii U’s form factor. The game also offers nunchuck support alongside the Balance board.
