Synchronized player progression in Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare

From November 13, players can start their ‘military rank’ push in Black Ops Cold War that will help in unlocking functional gameplay. However, from December 10, players will witness a new Season Leveling system that will be common for Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare.

In simple words, this means that players can progress in all three games together- playing any of the three titles will ensure progress in the other two titles as well. As a result, players now have a huge variety of progression options at their disposal that includes multiplayer modes, Zombies, and battle royale in Warzone.

Rank reset in Modern Warfare and Warzone to integrate with Black Ops Cold War

To facilitate the merging of the three titles, Warzone and Modern Warfare players will have to restart their ‘military’ rank push. However, this does not mean that they will lose any of their earned items. The XP will reset, but all the unlocked weapons, perks and killstreaks will remain.

Just like the player progression system, the Season Leveling system is innovative in its own ways. The Season Leveling system is similar to the traditional prestige system in Call of Duty, but Black Ops Cold War significantly adds to it.

Traditionally, after reaching the highest multilayer ranks (now military ranks), players had the option to exchange their rank for new logos or weapons. After availing these exclusive rewards, they had to restart their rank journey. Similarly, players can now unlock cool legacy player identity items and rewards in Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare.

Last, but not least, Call of Duty now offers its biggest weapon arsenal ever in Warzone. Following the integration, Warzone players can equip weapons from Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War. However, this is exclusive to Warzone, and both BOCW and MW will have separate weapon arsenals.

Implications of this integration on Call of Duty’s future

One of the biggest problems for the players has been the lack of integration between any of the CoD titles. Activision releases a new game every year that makes all the effort on the previous versions worthless. The developers finally recognize this dilemma and have accordingly worked out this integration.
