As you can clearly read, Modern Warfare 2 will be the sequel to the game from 2019, which also happens to be the best-selling COD to date. Plus, the upcoming offering will be an even better and “most advanced experience in franchise history”.

The overall situation now looks quite interesting as Activision is also busy in preparing for its merger with Xbox. After the completion of the deal with Microsoft, all of the publisher’s renowned IPs, including CoD, will come under Xbox Game Studios’ boss Phil Spencer. And it looks almost inevitable that he will focus a lot on making this franchise even more iconic in the coming future than what it is right now.
