The information came out directly from the general manager of Activision, who spoke about it in a recent interview.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Activision manager Johanna Faries shed light on an important topic. She claimed that the company would use a single engine for the Modern Warfare II and all later releases to improve the overall experience. The post also mentioned an official comment from the Activision manager saying, ‘For the first time in Call of Duty history, the team is using one unified engine across the franchise.’
