IShowSpeed‘s trip to Paris didn’t work out the way the streamer would’ve wanted it to. While visiting the French capital for the 2023 Ballon d’Or Award ceremony, IShowSpeed was naturally standing in Cristiano Roanldo‘s corner. However, as Lionel Messi scooped his record-setting eighth Ballon d’Or award, the American streamer was left flabbergasted and disappointed.

A year after winning the World Cup against France, Messi was once again crowned the “Best in the World” by the French authorities. While his iconic win in Qatar made him the favorite for the 2023 award, IShowSpeed was vehement about his loyalty to Ronaldo and wanted to see him win the title at the 67th edition of the prestigious ceremony.

IShowSpeed misses out on seeing his idol being crowned the Champion

In a video clip, IShowSpeed can be seen getting all excited as the show host takes the mic to announce the winner of the most coveted individual soccer award on Monday. IShowSpeed could be seen clenching his ears and chanting “Ronaldo! Ronaldo!“, hoping that his favorite soccer player and idol received the award once again. But the FIFA streamer was left with a broken heart as the host (former England captain and Manchester United’s poster boy) David Beckham announced “Lionel Messi” as the recipient of the 2023 Ballon d’Or Winner.

Speed couldn’t believe what he heard and was evidently flummoxed as the Argentine legend stepped up to the stage to claim his award. “Ain’t no way! Not Ronaldo?“, mumbled IShowSpeed, refusing to align with the show’s decision.

IShowSpeed was clearly visible as being irate by the revelation. So much so, that he had to leave his chair to fully express his feelings. Doing so, IShowSpeed unintentionally started a chain event leading to the Ballon d’Or 2023 Winner receiving a standing ovation.

While Cristiano Ronaldo Ronaldo does have better stats as both club and country player in 2023 than Lionel Messi, the latter’s incredible contribution to Argentina’s 2022 World Cup win changed the equation altogether. While Messi’s latest achievement will seal his place in the soccer world, Ronaldo will continue to reign over IShowSPeed’s heart.

Months ago, the streamer met Cristiano Ronaldo during the Euro Qualifiers and his eyes couldn’t hide his disbelief at meeting his idol. Ronaldo was taken aback by the streamer’s passion for him and was equally moved by the interaction.
