Night Springs, the first expansion for Alan Wake 2, is already set to arrive in late spring of 2024, according to Remedy Entertainment. Based on the text that goes with the videos, it appears that they are related to The Lakehouse, the game’s second expansion, which does not yet have a release date. To all the fans wondering what to expect from Dr. Darling’s character in the game, the leaker claimed that the character will feature in similar style instruction videos as in Control.

Remedy also disclosed that Alan Wake 2 will have a New Game Plus mode in addition to the leak. This mode adds a new Nightmare difficulty level, a different story with new Manuscript pages and video content, and the ability for players to keep their unlocked weapons and upgrades. While there hasn’t been any official confirmation on what to expect from the DLCs, the leaks might be enough to fuel the excitement.

The biggest question that arises from the leak is if these expansions might be the bridge between other Remedy titles for the game. As fascinating as the idea sounds, it will be interesting to see how the developers implement the idea. Moreover, for a character breaking into a different universe, the narrative certainly has to include a lot of Easter eggs and some familiar faces from the Remedy universe.

The tease dropped by the makers for Night Springs talked about “dreams and visions” and how plenty of characters would be featured in the expansion. Certainly, the leak aligns confidently with the tease. A fictitious program inside the Alan Wake universe will be the center of focus in the first DLC. On the contrary, The Lake House would take the story to a “mysterious facility” set around a Lake. Now, it won’t be surprising if the players catch some familiar faces at the place!
